That sucks! That's why I always organise my insurance before picking up the car, get cover note, case number, name of the employee giving it to me etc. Got screwed over once before because apparently "there was no record of that sir" |

Miles Baker wrote on Wednesday, December 12, 2007 - 09:19 am:Records aren't kept worth a squat 100 years back because they didn't have accurate instruments or know what to measure like we do today. Anyway, 100 years is nothing in earth time. To think that our little bit of action has such an impact is stupid and arrogant. The earth is enormous and we are a tiny speck on it
Actually, quite accurate meteorological records have been kept for around 250 years, and there are other means of discerning climate going back thousands and even millions of years (ice cores, tree rings, deep ocean sediments etc). The Stevenson Screen (invented by the father of Robert Louis in 1864) is still used to house Met instruments, and while they now house electronic sensors mercurial thermometers are still used as backup. This thread is going all over the place, but belated commiserations, Aka. It's no fun to have severe hail damage to one's pride and joy, especially a Soarer |

| I was lucky I guess, was at the drags in Eastern Creek on sunday, first ever time there. Car suffered about 8/10 hailstone dints, lucky for me its silver, and aren't heavily visible. Still have to fix them though, I guess that's when it hurts. These are some of the little bastards that reeked havoc on the day. Check out the one that wasn't happy just being a hailstone, it on steroids

| Yeah the ones at WSID were not that big, There were some big ones that lasted no more than 5mins at the end of the hail storm. I read the paper the next day and saw a picture of a hailstone in a guys hand and it was the size of a cricket ball. Was huge. |

| cause it is my car i tapped dents out where i could then use body filler, and 2pak primer . if it was a customers it would have had the turret replaced. i did put a new bonnet and bootlid on it though. |

| hey Antonio, yours ARE bigger than mine Because living on the coast, or in the central west, never really experienced hailstones much bigger than guinea pig testicles. So to be out in it, for the first time, was an experience. I must say that when i was at WSID, I'm most disappointed with the ammenities. The tosser over the loud speaker suggested as the storm started, that everyone should seek some shelter. Unfortunately there is NO SHELTER at the track! Not that we could find except maybe hang out in the toilets. |
